Ultramarine Blue
Blue Ultramarine was the supreme blue for European Artists of the Middle Ages referring to the pigments that derived from lapis lazuli, a semiprecious stone.
The basic synthetic ultramarine color is a rich, bright reddish blue, the red-green tone varying with its chemical composition. The pink and violet derivatives have weaker, less saturated colors.
The stability and safety of ultramarine pigments are the basis of their wide set of applications ranging from plastics, paints, printing inks, synthetic fibers, latex products, toys, among various others.
